The Breed

Boerboels are a large, powerful, and muscular South African dog breed often referred to as the Mastiff of South Africa. Developed over centuries, they were originally bred as farm dogs to protect livestock and property from predators. While still valued as working dogs, Boerboels have also gained popularity as family companions and guard dogs.

Size: Large, with males typically standing 61-69 cm at the shoulder and weighing 68-90 kgs, while females are slightly smaller.

Build: Robust and well-proportioned, with a broad head, thick neck, and deep chest.

Coat: Short and dense, with a variety of colors including fawn, brindle, and red. Their coat is often accompanied by a black mask.

Temperament: Boerboels are known for their loyalty, courage, and protective nature. They are typically calm and confident around their family but can be wary of strangers. Early socialization and training are essential to ensure they develop into well-adjusted companions.

Zazu achieved an 86.3% score at only 25 months in the Sabbs appraisal conducted in Portugal.

He is a highly correct male with excellent proportions, showcasing a strong bone structure, robustness, and typical characteristics of the breed.

He is a very confident, athletic, and excellent family companion. Equally important is his reproductive capacity, having already produced outstanding examples of the breed.
